Becoming a USATF Member: Visit to purchase a membership in advance online. Memberships can be purchased at the event but this is not preferred. You can speed up the registration process by A) purchasing a USATF membership in advance; or B) downloading a paper membership application and completing it in advance. Please arrive prior to 8:40 AM in order for us to process the day of event registrations. Registration opens at 8:00 AM. Paper membership forms will be available if you need one. If you have had a membership in 2015 or in a prior year, you will need a new membership for 2016. If you have had a membership in any prior year, please “renew” your membership even if you have had a lapse in years between memberships. If you had age verification in the USATF system, renewing a membership allows the age verification to stay connected to the membership. Applying for a “new” membership will require submission of age verification again. If you have never submitted age verification, it is required that you submit the age verification.

Age Verification: Members should submit age verification to once a membership is purchased. Proof of age (copy of a birth certificate, passport, driver’s license or driver’s permit accepted) is verified in the USATF database. Athletes will still be permitted to participate without proof of age verified but this makes all future meet participation easier if completed. Parent or guardian will need to sign the entry form waiver and membership application.

Eligibility: Athletes from 5-18 years of age are invited to attend the USATF Minnesota SJU/CSB Indoor Youth Track & Field Clinic and All Ages Meet. It is not required that participants have a 2016 USATF membership but a significant discount is provided to 2016 USATF members. Athletes older than 18 may participate in the meet only at the same cost as for clinic participants.

Track Meet Only Participation: For athletes wishing to participate in only the meet, the cost is the same as for the other indoor meets being offered by USATF Minnesota in 2016. Athletes must complete registration in advance or by 11:30 AM in order to participate in the meet. Athletes older than 18 may register for the track meet events.

Field Events: Shot put, long jump and triple jump will be contested with each athlete being permitted three jumps or throws. New this year is high jump and pole vault competition at the meet. The high jump bar will move up in 5cm increments and the pole vault bar will move up in 15cm increments (until only the first place finisher remains in competition). The bar will not be lowered at any point during the competition (unless to break a tie for first place). Athletes are responsible for being at all field and running events at the proper time to compete. If an athlete is in a field event and needs to leave to attend a running event, the athlete should check out with the official at the field event and promptly return to the field event upon completion of the running event. When it is possible, the field event official will permit a 5 minute time period from the completion of the athlete’s running event in order to return to complete a field event trial. However, given the limited time available to complete the meet, meet management reserves the right to suspend the 5 minute grace period and require athletes to compete at the time the athlete is called to compete. Meet management will make an effort to communicate this to effected athletes if it becomes necessary. Athletes wishing to participate in pole vault will need to supply their own poles.
